Susmit Acharya — Engineering & Neuroscience | Trinity College Dublin
I am an incoming Engineering Freshman at Trinity College Dublin, interested in Brain-Computer Interface hardware, EEG signal processing, and human-centered AI architectures. My goal is to contribute to next-generation of computational neuroscience and bioengineering research through Trinity's School of Engineering and the Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience.
My academic interests sit at the intersection of neural engineering and human-centered AI, specifically how hardware-level BCI systems can be designed to extend human cognitive and communicative capability. I bring to this focus a foundation in machine learning architecture and AI systems, developed through independent research and applied project work.
Prior to beginning my undergraduate studies, I authored two research publications. The first examines AI frameworks for strategic growth in small-scale enterprises, exploring how MSMEs can adopt artificial intelligence without the resource infrastructure of larger organizations. The second proposes a prototype system for deepfake detection and content authenticity verification, aimed specifically at independent digital media creators operating outside institutional support structures.
As an Intern Trainee at Scaler School of Technology, in June and July 2025, I worked across six applied AI projects, gaining practical experience in product thinking, MVP development, and market research methodology. I also served as the Student Council President at Auxilium Convent School, Barasat, in 2024 and 2025, where I led inter-school initiatives, fostered teamwork, and represented the school at inter-school meetings.
I am building on my skills and certifications in artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational problem-solving, and neuroscience, as listed above in the Projects & Expertise section. I am drawn to questions at the intersection of engineering, neuroscience, and human-centered design, especially those involving the development of systems that can expand human capabilities.
